Can erroneous memories be true? What is the foundation of culture – a lasting myth or perhaps the changing everyday life? Is it possible to create a collective autobiography? And if so, what would be the distinctive features of such a genre? The author of the article attempts to answer these questions carrying out a theoretical analysis and an interpretation of Je me souviens (1978) by Georges Perec in the light of Jan Assmann’s categories of communicative memory and cultural memory, applied with regard to the problems of individual vs. collective memory and the types of memory that genuinely connect generations and cultures.Czy błędne wspomnienia mogą być prawdziwe?
